South Carolina's pro-life bill to end "legalized" abortion (House bill H.3213 / Senate bill S.111)
South Carolina's only bill to ban all baby-killing dies as Silence and Inaction by a Senate Judiciary Subcommittee with 4 out of 5 voting members Republicans, results in no action taken by the end of the regular session, June 1, 2006 (same day as the start of the 2006 Hurricane season). Even 4 and 5 year-old children mouth the word "baby" when they see a photo an 8-week in-utero 'fetus' !
The Republicans are the majority in the South Carolina State Senate (26 R's to 20 D's).
Of the 26 Republicans in the SC Senate, only seven signed on as co-sponsors of S.111.
Sponsors: Senators Fair, Bryant, Grooms, Thomas, Verdin, Hayes and Ryberg. Only seven (27%) out of 26 Republican State Senators co-sponsored S.111, despite the fact that there were 47 (64%) out of 74 Republican State Representatives who co-sponsored the House version (H.3213) before it passed the 124-member SC House on April 13, 2005 by a vote of 95 Yeas to 18 Nays (albeit with a 'fatal flaw' rape exception amendment that needed to be removed). After passing the SC House, a Senate Judiciary Subcommittee "sat" on the bill (H.3213) for over a year until the end of the session, June 1, 2006, killing SC's baby-killing ban bill.
Sadly, even the primary sponsor of the Senate version undermined his own bill. “We (supporters of limits) basically got together and decided abortion wouldn’t be an issue this year,” Sen. Mike Fair, R-Greenville, said of supporters of limiting abortion. “Had we known South Dakota would have done what they did, there would have been thoughtful consideration on testing the waters here, I assure you.” (The State, 3/19/06)

Senator Fair, at 125 children murdered by surgical abortion per week in SC, abortion is an issue ! In 2004, 55/week were murdered in Charleston, 45/week murdered in Greenville, and 25/week murdered in Columbia.
It is the Republicans who are the majority in the State Senate who are responsible for refusing to take action to pass the Right to Life Act of SC by June 1, 2006, thus killing SC's baby-killing ban bill. It is the SC Senate Republicans, from the political party now in power, who are therefore responsible for prolonging child-murder-by-surgical-abortion in our state.(6,500-plus children murdered by surgical abortion per year).
